Try Another World
Rodman Gilder Miller was born in NYC, & raised in New Jersey, & went to an all-boy prep school in the Berkshires of Western MA. He graduated, got a guitar, let his hair grow, & went to Cornell, where he was mentored by Dr. Frank Rosenblatt. Rosenblatt, a neurobiologist, was crucial in early work on perceptrons & neural networks.
Rodman started out as a scientist. He holds a Ph.D. in biology & taught at the University of Calgary. He was raised hearing stories about & seeing the work of his great-grandfather, Louis Comfort Tiffany. Eventually his well-nurtured interest in glass motivated him to change careers, & now he happily passes the long months of the Seattle winters in his studio, pulling hot glass into shapes that remind him of the natural forms he saw so frequently under the electron microscope. His vessels are sold here on this site, in select galleries in the United States & overseas, & his architectural glass can be seen in Seattle, Bellevue, San Francisco, & Taiwan.
